Fleeting Shadows Prologue Had I been a terribly religious man I would have found the fact that my new charge's cell number was 666 more than vaguely eerie. Though I do admit that vicious carnivorous butterflies were wreaking havoc on my insides as I entered the ancient dreary prison. Several decades back, the Demon Council had voted to tear the old place down but for some reason it never happened. Most of the inmates were moved to a new more secure building though one remained. Now that certain individual's sentence was over, which was exactly why I was called out here.

Salvation Lost within the dark abyss of my heart.
Nothing but the chains that bind me here.
Imprisoned by my morbid heart's desires.
I loved, but was not loved in return.
Laying still with my old wounds freshly bleeding.
Tears are my daily routine, never able to shed my sadness.
When these years of pain force me to the brink of despair....
A light breaks through the barrier to my lonely heart.
Why do you try so hard to reach me?
"Because I want to be with you."
Why do you want such a thing?
"Because I love you."
Love.....me?
This light holds me tenderly in its arms, breaking the chains binding me here.
Tears come forth once more.
